NZQA assessment

If you hold an overseas qualification you may need to complete a NZQA assessment of the same for immigration purposes before applying for certain visa types. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) is assessing qualifications gained overseas to determine the equivalent level in New Zealand terms.

Employer Accreditation – First Application

Are you a New Zealand employer experiencing skill shortage and in a constant need for a skilled employees? Do you have good workplace policies and history of compliance with New Zealand employment and immigration law?

Important note:
The Talent Accredited Employer scheme will be replaced by a new process for accrediting employers which means that if a New Zealand employer wants to hire a migrant worker on the new visa, the employer will have to be accredited first, in line with the new accreditation process. Your visa application was declined but you believe the decision was incorrect and/or there are specific circumstances on your side that deserve another look by the Minister of immigration? Find out whether you can challenge INZ’s decision on your application and approach the Minister of Immigration or the Immigration and Protection Tribunal (the IPT) to turn over the decision.

IPT Appeals

In some instances, a person may lodge an appeal with the Immigration and Protection Tribunal (IPT). There are different grounds for an appeal and a very formal process to follow.

Approval in Principle – AIP (work)

If you are New Zealand employer looking to recruit skilled employees please note that due to COVID-19 situation, Immigration New Zealand has suspended applications for temporary visas from outside New Zealand until further notice, unless they can meet strict border restrictions.

Furthermore, from mid 2021, INZ will replace 6 existing temporary work visas. The current accreditation scheme will be also replaced by a new process for accrediting employers which means that if a New Zealand employer wants to hire a migrant worker on the new visa, the employer will have to be accredited first, in line with the new accreditation process.
